My Story
PLAN FOR WRITING A PERSONAL TESTIMONY
Use the following model to wrote your story
Pray first. Then write a one-sentence answer to the questions below.
Before
How I imagined God and what He was thinking about me?
During
How I understood that God is different - what really happened?
After
What changed? How I imagine God now and how He sees me?
Few hints for writing your testimony:
  • Be short, more doesn't mean better. Share your testimony in 3 minutes max
  • Avoid sharing too many autobiography details which are not related to the spiritual questions (which school you went, where your parents lived,...)
  • Don't try to impress people, don't add too much color
  • Use simple words. Avoid church vocabulary (repentance, lamb of God, ..)
  • Avoid talking about different denominations (penticostal, baptists, orthodox,..), especially with negative details
  • Don't go into detail things related to using drugs, crimes, being drunk, amoral behaviour.
  • Try to make the story alive using emotions to make it easy and interesting to listen
The part "Before"

Write answers to the following questions:
  • How was my life before? What were my feelings, needs, and problems?
  • How I imagine God and what He thinks about me?
  • What was the focus of my life then?
  • Where I was finding stability, peace, happiness, security? Why those findings didn't satisfy me?
The part "During"

Write answers to the following questions:
  • How I learned about God?
  • What steps I made to discover Him?
  • When and how did I learn about Gospel?
  • What was my first reaction?
  • How did I ultimately respond?
  • When did my attitude start to change? Why?
The part "After"

Write the answers to these questions:
  • How did the understanding of God and how He sees me change?
  • What changes Jesus brought in my life, in my activities and how it impacted my views?
  • Why did my attitude change?
  • How much time went by before I saw changes in my life?
This is the most important part, because you are showing God based on facts which happened to you.
Share your story with your coach
